Hello again!

What a month. We’re still getting into our school year rhythm, but feel pretty settled. With toddlers, there is almost always one of them sick, so managing that along with all of our other commitments can be a challenge. When my kids are sick I tend to crawl into a hole for a bit and have to dig myself back out. Then I am nervous they’ll get sick again. It’s a vicious cycle.

When I was a child, I always heard adults talk about seasons in life and I am feeling that so much right now. Even week to week things shift and change and it is so hard to relinquish control and come to terms with it all. I am not always good at embracing change, but am very much looking forward to a change of season ahead with fall officially here on Sunday. Very ready for all the fall things and fall clothes!

Daily practice.

Journaling

I was gifted a baby book at my baby shower where you write something in it every day. I was unsure how I would manage to fill it in daily, but I got into a rhythm in that first year with Aurora. The book ended at 1 year and I knew I had to keep writing. I found some 5-year journals and have been writing in them ever since. I do one for both girls and I love looking back at the year before to see what they were up to. I highly encourage you to do this if you’re a mom-to-be or even a seasoned mom. It makes a great gift too!

*Unfortunately, the 5-year journals I purchased are no longer available, but I picked some other ones here!

Good buys.

Vitacost

I’m always on the hunt for healthy(ish) organic snacks that I can easily stock up on and love that Vitacost offers so many options. I find that they have great prices and fast shipping, and there’s almost always a promotion going on. I highly recommend this site for good clean buys! I buy most of our cleaning products here as well.

Tula Filter Primer

I am such a minimalist when it comes to makeup. Having freckles, I prefer not to cover them up, but that makes it hard to find a foundation that allows them to be seen without my face looking muddy. I’ve been using Tula’s Filter Primer in Sunrise for a few months and it’s my go-to for a light foundation when I opt to wear makeup. It’s lightweight, easy to apply, and priced fairly affordably. I love that it does not have SPF and I can apply that separately if I want to.

Mini Belt Bag

$14

A total Lululemon dupe for a fraction of the cost. It comes in so many colors and has held up really well. It holds a surprising amount of stuff. I pack it with my phone, hand sanitizer, wipes, my car key, some snacks – enough for me and two toddlers.

Mid Rise Easy Cargo Pants

$48

Been loving the pants from Gap Factory lately. These are a true midrise, so keep that in mind if you order them! Love how they’ll look with white sneakers for fall.

Local Love

LZ Lux Hair Studio

I recently got my hair cut with Lizette at LZ Lux Hair Studio and I love it. She’s done my color and cuts for the last two years and I have been so happy with it all. She is extremely passionate about hair and delivers exactly what you want. She also cut Aurora’s hair in the spring and she was so amazing with her – Aurora LOVED the experience and talks about going again often.

Diving Gem Pool Toys

$10

For some reason, my girls love these things. They play with them at home as much or more than at the pool.

Cinderella Butterfly Dress

$50

If you have girls who love to dress up, the Little Adventures dresses are the best. They are pricey, so buying secondhand or during one of their sales is what I’ve done.

Cotton Dress

$8

We love the $5 tank top version of this dress and love that it comes in a long sleeve style too!

Silicone Placemats

$19

I have used these daily since buying them a few years ago. The non-slip surface helps keep plates and bowls in place. These are also so good when eating out – just keep one or two in the car!
